Practice Intensive
For Those Affected by Natural Disasters
The monks of Namdroling Monastery continuously carry through prayers and
practice for all of those in all countries affected by natural disasters, famine, warfare and all sorts of misfortunate events - as well as for all sentient beings.
Anyone who wishes to help beings suffering in this world in ways
additional to financial help are advised to follow through
the practices for which we have received instructions as much as
possible. If possible, please increase the amount of time you
recite your practices daily and dedicate the merit to all sentient beings.
If one does not have a practice, it is fine to repeat the mantra of
Chenresig (Avalokitesvara), the Bodhisattva of Compassion as follows:
Om Mani Peme Hung
If possible, recite this mantra as many times as possible when
awakening
from sleep, during the day, and again before retiring. In reciting
this mantra, remember that your practice is offered as help for all
beings. It can be helpful to keep in mind one's own safety and
fortunate circumstances, and offer one's good luck with the wish that
all beings may be free of suffering. You can recite this mantra once or
by the number of beads we have on our mala (108) or many thousands of
times. Most important, however, is your intention to be of help to
those who lost their lives or have suffered the loss of family members
and other misfortunes as a result of events within or beyond their control.
When you have completed a session of recitations, dedicate your
practice to all beings, living and recently passed away as follows:
CHANGCHUB SEM CHOG RINPOCHE
The precious Bodhicitta (awakened mind)
MA KYE PA NAM KYE GYUR CHIG
If unborn, may it arise,
KYE PA NYAM PA MED PA DANG
If generated may it never diminish,
GONG NEI GONG DU PHEL WAR SHOG
And may it remain ever-increasing!
