Khenchen Rinpoche Pema Sherab

Continuing every Saturday and Sunday until complete, possibly through February 2021

Program website:

We are extremely fortunate to be able to participate in teachings by Khenchen Rinpoche Pema Sherab, the senior-most Khenchen from Namdroling Monastery’s Ngagyur Nyingma Institute. Khenchen Rinpoche will be using the text that includes the commentary by Kangyur Rinpoche.*

Nagarjuna can be considered the founder of the “Middle Way” articulating the philosophies of the Two Truths and of emptiness. The instructions contained in his text, A Letter to a Friend, are particularly helpful to those who are householders and want to continue working and living in society. The text is meant to convey the entirety of the Dharma in a way that is easy to understand.

December 19, 7 AM to 9 AM EST is the first class.

Classes will continue until the teaching is completed, likely February 2021.
Attention: registration closes December 16, 2020

Level: All

Prerequisite: Student commitment to avoid the defects of the pot.

Languages: Taught in Tibetan with English translation by Khenpo Sonam Tsewang (pictured), and concurrent Mandarin and Spanish translation.

This is an incredible opportunity to receive beginner’s teachings from one of the seniormost teachers at Namdroling Monastery, Khenchen Rinpoche Tsewang Gyatso. Khenchen Rinpoche will give teachings on Namchö Ngöndro, the preliminary practices starting in the month of December.

These practices are for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. They form the foundation for the student who would like to be serious about Buddhism to build the path all the way up to Dzogchen, the Great Perfection. The late HH Penor Rinopche mentioned many times that one can attain liberation through the Ngöndro practice as it is itself the complete path to the enlightenment.

Public Talk: Death Dying and What’s Next and Virtual Phowa Retreat with
Tulku Rinpoche Dawa Gyalpo
Presented by Palyul Pemi Mani Center, Toronto, Canada

Tulku Dawa Gyalpo Rinpoche

Talk: December 24 – 7 – 9 PM EST
Retreat: December 25, 26, 27 – 10 AM – 5 PM EST

Program website: Palyul Pemi Mani Center, Toronto

While we study together with our khenpos from Namdroling Monastery, we also have the chance to practice together from home with Tulku Rinpoche Dawa Gyalpo. Tulku Rinpoche was recognized by HH Penor Rinpoche, trained with him and completed Shedra at Namdroling Monastery.

Tulku Rinpoche will speak about the inevitability of death and what we can expect when it happens to us. Although this may sound like a sad subject, still through reflecting on death we can live the life we have today in a happier way.

In addition to speaking about death, Tulku Rinpoche will hold a guided Phowa retreat. Phowa is one of the most powerful practices we can do when faced with death. It is very simple and anyone can do it. Phowa can be done for oneself or for those we know that have passed away. The retreat will guide attendees in the methods of this deeply helpful practice.

The Heart Sutra, Prajnaparamita
taught by
Khenpo Rinpoche Sonam Nyima
Presented by Palyul Dhonyag Shedrup Ling, Ottawa, Canada

December 12, 13, 19, 20
10 AM to 12 PM (EST)

Program website: Palyul Dhonyag Shedrup Ling

This teaching ties in well with the teaching of Khenchen Rinpoche Pema Sherab as Nagarjuna is particularly associated with The Heart Stura (Prajnaparamita). The Heart Sutra is a very profound teaching as it is the essence of the Buddha’s teachings on prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom in 16 volumes). It is a complete sutrayana teaching because it includes ground, path and fruition with extensive explanation on emptiness. Please join us for this teaching by Khen Rinpoche Sonam.
